This Group is one of the longest and best known Tour Operators in Ireland that has offered travel companies service to a large range of travel trade partners since 1978. Based in Ireland, Scotland and England, this Incoming Tour Operators is selling the destinations of Ireland and the UK to the worldwide travel trade on a B2B basis. Specialised in the leisure travel sector, our client has focused its activities in 4 specific inbound tourism divisions that include: Group Tours, Individual & Online Travel, Incentive & Luxury leisure travel, Association Conferences & Events.  


This is a 3 to 6 month internship based in Edinburgh, paying NMW

Key responsibilities of the role;

This client is looking for an enthusiastic intern passionate about tourism and communications to join their team either in London or Edinburgh to deal with different departments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Customer Care Department on a daily basis (handling travel arrangements for groups to Scotland)
  • Supporting account handlers who manage the Mediterranean market (in particular Italian and Spanish speaking markets)
  • Dealing with each department of the business if necessary such as the Operations department
  • Answering phone calls and making inbound/ outbound calls
  • Liaising with customers both by phone and email to ask them information to prepare files, update booking details and travel itineraries, respond customer queries, translate information from/to customer’s own language
  • Dealing with suppliers to convey important client information such as passenger lists, change times or date of service
  • Liaising with tour guides and transports providers
  • Navigating on booking system on a daily basis
  • Creating times itineraries using different tools such as local maps or route planners

The ideal candidate’s personality and qualifications;

  • Fluency in Italian/Spanish/English is essential
  • Enthusiastic, confident, proactive, organised and passionate about what you do
  • Willing to learn and develop your skills
  • High attention to details
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Interest in the Tourism Industry in Europe is desirable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
