This is a full-time position based in Blackburn, paying £23-25K (DOE)

Key responsibilities of the role;

Our client is expanding its data department and they are now looking for a Junior Data Scientist to ensure that each department has the necessary information to make the right decisions. You will closely deal with each department to define and deliver their reporting needs.

Liaising directly with the Business Intelligence Manager your main responsibilities will include:

  • Creating data models and experiments using tools such as Azure Machine Learning Workbench with the objective of generating additional revenue
  • Producing and delivering dashboards and reports with PowerBI and Excel
  • Developing your technical skills to interrogate the data warehouse using SQL and creating forecasting models with R and Python
  • Developing strong working relationships with business users and deliver reporting capabilities and associated support services
  • Introducing mathematical modelling and new technologies to the business
  • Dealing with users in the business to gain a deep understanding of reporting requirements
  • Identifying new data sources
  • Estimating duration and effort for reports and dashboards
  • Performing data engineering to create and handle datasets for analysis

The ideal candidate’s personality and qualifications;

  • Educated to Masters or PHD degree level ideally in Mathematics, Analytics or Statistics
  • Analytical, problem-solving and organised
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, confident, proactive and passionate about what you do
  • Strong communication skills
  • Desire to progress in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well in a tram environment
  • Capability of prioritising and meeting deadlines
