This is a 3 month paid internship offering NMW, followed by a permanent role.

A typical day would be:                                    

To monitor and maintain the computer systems and networks for the company. Installing and configuring computer systems when necessary, diagnosing hardware and software issues, correcting faults and ensuring technical and application problems are solved quickly with minimal office disruption. To understand how information systems are used and how problems can be minimised with use of technical knowledge. To be the first point of contact for all IT queries and issues, and to provide advice on the purchase of technical equipment.

  1. Ensuring smooth running of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits from them
  2. Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  3. Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  4. Liaising with staff members and managers to help set up systems or resolve issues
  5. To provide advice on the purchase of technical equipment
  6. Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults replacing parts as required
  7. Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports
  8. Following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system
  9. Supporting the roll-out of new applications
  10. Setting up new user accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues
  11. Working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
  12. Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time
  13. Testing and evaluating new technology
  14. Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment when necessary
