Our client is a 'tech for good' campany led by a passionate female founder who aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation in older people and promote a more active lifestyle by introducing them to like-minded people in their community. They are a social enterprise using smart technology, to better and more efficiently match their members with volunteers, helping to create a new, sustainable friendship circle that is rewarding for everyone. 

This is an exciting time to join as they move to the next phase of scaling up our service which won the Mayor of London’s Civic Innovation Challenge for Loneliness and Isolation in 2018. From your first day, you’ll have key responsibilities and have a direct impact on our organisation’s success and expansion.


This is a 3 month internship offering £21K based in Hackney with the potential to go permanent all things being well. It is FOR ONLY 8 - 10 hours per week, so approx 1 day a week. You need to be able to commit for the full 3 months.

Day-to-day activities will include…

  • Help develop strategies to make Buddies and members feel more welcome and connected to the wider BuddyHub community
  • Finding ways to empower Buddies and Members to meet each other, participate in activities, and learn together around wellbeing
  • Planning and managing community events and maintain an active web presence/community
  • Alerting Buddies to events, BuddyHub partners and activities in their area
  • Creating and maintaining content calendar
  • Helping build partnerships to increase Buddy recruitment
  • Leveraging the skills/experience of the BuddyHub community
  • Collecting regular feedback from the community
  • Creating community newsletters
  • Other operational and strategic tasks as required

  • You have a strong work ethic and are able to work and think independently and creatively to solve problems
  •  You can thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Excellent team-work skills and ability to multitask
  • You care about tackling loneliness and social isolation in our communities
  • Tech-savvy, easily able to pick up new technology
  •  Ability to identify and track relevant community metrics
  • Degree in Marketing or experience as a community manager, in social media management or community work is desirable
  •  Event planning and management skills are desirable
  • Willing to travel across our areas of operation in London
  • Possess the right to work in the UK and willing to undergo a DBS check
