Our client is a customer-orientated healthcare organisation. They provide a range of advice and support services to clinical commissioning groups in North West London and plan many of the health services available to the 300,000 people that live there.


Fantastic finance assistant internship for an individual with a passion for finance and the NHS.

The role will work as part of the Financial Support Team to provide high quality and proactive robust financial management support.

This is a trainee role and the post holder will predominantly support the financial accounting function. However, they must be flexible in the duties they perform and may be required to assist the management accounting function on an ad-hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the financial controller with month-end and year-end analysis and reporting.
  • To provide financial management support to ensure internal and external audit requirements are met
  • Assist with supplier invoice query resolution.
  • Monitoring the time it takes budget managers to approve invoices and chasing those users who are not responding promptly to system-generated reminders.
  • Support the quarterly Agreement of Balances exercise.
  • Raising sales invoices and assist with chasing outstanding debtors as directed.
  • Ad-hoc query resolution and general support for departmental colleagues as required.
  • To help build confidence in the quality of data for all system / reporting outputs produced.
  • To support the team in its development of effective financial governance arrangements to ensure compliance.
  • To assist the Financial Support team in providing excellent financial accounting information support.
  • To participate in the ‘can do’ team culture and play a role in driving up quality standards generally.

Key Requirements:

  • Graduate or equivalent qualification
  • Desire to study for a professional accountancy qualification / AAT
  • General work experience in a finance role
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office
  • An appreciation of the finance function within the NHS
  • An appreciation of information governance in the NHS
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexible approach
