Your guide to the spring bank holiday weekend in London

May’s great isn’t it? When we’re still reminiscing over how much fun we had two weeks ago on the last long weekend, up comes another! We may not have the glorious sunshine we deserve, but in true British style we will endeavour to make the most of what we’ve got… and here to lend a helping hand is my guide to the top happenings going down in London over the next few days!

What is, I’m sure, topping the majority of the male agendas for this Saturday: the Champions League Final. If you don’t know already, here’s the low down: a battle of the Germans at Wembley, as Borussia Dortmund take on Bayern Munich, 19.45 KO – tune in to ITV or Sky Sports 1 for live coverage. If you’re looking to fully-immerse yourself into the atmosphere then head to one of the following German pubs in the capital: Zeitgeist in Lambeth, Oktoberfest in Fulham or the Bavarian Bierhall in Old Street; guaranteed decent beer by the litre. Alternatively, for a taste of Germany without the football, take a trip to Stein’s Bavarian Beer Garden on the river in Richmond. An ideal setting to enjoy the few hours of sunshine we’re likely to see this summer.

You lovely lot are spoilt for choice in London this Friday. Fabriclive’s playing host to a ridiculous line-up featuring Synkro, Calibra, Marcus Intalex and a live set from British hip-hop kings, Foreign Beggars. Then there’s something for all the house and techno heads with Jus Ed and Nina Kraviz headlining at Corsica Studios as Tief presents their Underground Quality label night. And finally, head to Shoreditch’s XOYO to enjoy a magic combination of Maribou State, Dark Sky and Machinedrum. Tasty.

Seize your Saturday this weekend and make a memory out of your saved dollar by getting yourself a ticket to Field Day. This delicious festival takes over at Vicky Park with an eclectically-long list of tantalising artists, offering something for all taste buds. Alternatively, acclaimed Brooklyn house and disco duo Metro Area are taking over Oval Space this Saturday with Bicep and Optimo contributing to form an anticipated night of pure house vibes.

And if you’ve still got it in you: take on Sunday. Secretsundaze are back for their second event of 2013, after what I can vouch for was a pretty sexy opening party a couple of weeks ago! Their May bank holiday special brings together a profusion of DJs to ensure your Sunday goes off in true party style. Kumasi Music are upping the ante this weekend by putting on their first 16 hour outdoor/indoor, day to night extravaganza at iCan Studios, with a line-up to complete that festival feel. And finally, an appearance from the beast of drum and bass, Goldie, at The Nest this Sunday evening! No explanation needed.

And for Monday? Rest.
