Pancake Day in London
How are you celebrating Pancake Day tomorrow? Are you donning your apron, grabbing your frying pan and heading…outside? Yes, as well as eating pancakes, there’s a long tradition of pancake races in London! Participants have to toss pancakes in a frying pan as they run to the finish line. If you don’t fancy racing yourself, you can always cheer on the runners who could range from hipsters to MPs raising money for charity.
So if you don’t want to confine your Pancake Day to the kitchen this year then here are some of the races and other events taking place in London tomorrow:
Great Spitalfields Pancake Race
If you want to watch teams of four dressed up in wacky outfits and running while flipping pancakes to raise money for London’s Air Ambulance then head to Dray Walk, Brick Lane at 12.30pm tomorrow.
Parliamentary Pancake Race
Fancy watching high-profile participants from the Houses of Parliament race against members of the press? The Parliamentary Pancake Race is taking place in the grounds of Victoria Tower Gardens in Westminster and will raise funds and awareness for the brain injury charity Rehab UK.
Better Bankside Pancake Day Race

Some of the traders will also be on hand with foodie treats!
Annual Breakfast Club Pancake Challenge
If you would rather put your money where your mouth is for charity then compete in the pancake eating challenge at The Breakfast Club in Hoxton or Spitalfields. The contest starts at 7.30pm and you will need to register in advance. If you manage to eat 12 pancakes in 20 minutes, you will win dinner and drinks for six friends and yourself. If you are beaten, you pay for your pancakes and the takings go to Rays of Sunshine Children’s Charity. Win, win!
